Attorney Brian Mahany created MahanyLaw after over 25 years as a lawyer. During those many years of experience, Brian served as head of Maine's tax department where he was responsible for audits, collections, tax prosecutions and collecting billions of dollars in annual revenue. He also served as a Special Assistant Attorney General (tax) and as a white collar criminal defense attorney defending high profile defendants and targets in Maine, California, Massachusetts, Texas, Florida, New York, Hawaii, Wisconsin, South Carolina, North Carolina, Washington, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Indiana, Illinois and elsewhere.
Throughout his years of practice, Attorney Mahany realized there was a significant need for quality capital preservation and tax collection (offers-in-compromise) representation - fields currently dominated by practitioners hawking their "services" on late night TV or pushing "asset protection" schemes which are worthless at best and illegal at worst. After successfully representing a Midwestern business owner in imminent danger of going to jail and a southern physician under an IRS criminal investigation for following bad "asset protection" strategies, Mahany elected to begin his own specialty firm - one that would deliver effective capital preservation without the attendant criminal exposure associated with many asset protection "specialists."
